The gifts of coming home, celebrating the 68th Grand Alumni Homecoming

The 68th Grand Alumni Homecoming celebration started with a medical-dental mission and blood-letting activity held on January 14, 2018 at the Fr. Louis Chauvet multi-purpose gym.  Over  500 faculty, staff, family members, and community residents served by SPUI availed of the free sugar screening, ECG, pediatric and adult medical consultations as well as dental services.  The medical-dental mission and bloodletting activity was organized by the College of Nursing faculty, students, staff, and alumni with the class of Fervidus Caelestis Vox 2003 as its major sponsor.  The mission was spearheaded by the SPUI Alumni Association under the helm of its President, Dr. Chris Sorongon and its Outreach Program Chair, Mrs. Thelma “Timay” G. Servidad.

With the continuing theme of “Pagkabalaka, Pag-ulikid, Pagtatap 2018″ the alumni continue to give back by also sharing their insights and experiences on how their Paulinian education has helped shaped their professional engagement in the Philippines and elsewhere in the world. The international health forum and Paul’s talk held on January 18, 2018 at the Marian theater provided a forum for the alumni to engage the students and faculty on the impact of Paulinian education to community and the global society.

The 68th Grand Alumni Homecoming culminated in a dinner-dance held on January 20, 2018 at the Iloilo Convention Center with the Jubilarians showcasing their talents. The major Jubilarians from Nursing Jomaries 1958 (Diamond), Nursing Mar-Jo-Lux 1963 (Emerald), Nursing Fleur Jesu 1968 (Golden), Nursing Marviolettes 1973 (Sapphire), and Nursing Angela Christis 1978 (Ruby) as well as the Coral 1983, Pearl 1988, and Silver 1993 Jubilarians presented musical numbers adapted from their chosen musical icons.  The Mar-Jo-Lux Emerald Jubilarians bagged the grand price for their uniquely choreographed musical presentation.  The celebration ended with the rest of the alumni dancing “till they drop.”
