College of Teacher Education

Welcome to the College of Teacher Education website!

The College of Teacher Education is a new separate department of the University starting 2010, having been under the College of Arts and Science since it started to offer courses in the field of teaching. To date it has two major programs: Bachelor in Secondary Education (BSEd) major in Biological Science and Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEEd) major in Special Education (SPED) and Pre-school Education (PSED). Both the two programs have government recognitions. By AY 2012-2013, the college will be offering more majors such as: BSEd major in English, Filipino, Social Studies and Mathematics; and BEEd major in General Education.

We, in the College of Teacher Education continuously strive to produce teachers who are imbued with Paulinian values committed to the Christian formation of the youth. We commit to form pre-service teachers who are ready to face the challenges of the teaching profession not only in the country but in the global world by providing them authentic content and pedagogy necessary to achieve personal integrity and professional excellence.

Our department houses qualified and competent faculty members with teaching experiences par excellence. Professional subjects are handled by doctorate degree holder professors and the faculty members for major subjects are all master’s degree holders in their field of specialization. The department is reinforced by faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences who are also master’s degree holders in their field of specialization teaching the general education subjects.

We then would like to invite prospective high school graduates who would wish to take teaching as their profession to enroll and join us  in our university. And to those who are graduates of other programs who wish to take Certificate in Teaching to qualify in taking the Licensure Examination for Teachers.

To quote John Dewey, “Education is a social process; education is growth; education is not a preparation for life but is life itself.” Join us as we create opportunities, widen perspectives and build a strong foundation in the teaching profession – the mother of all professions.

Godspeed everyone!

Dean, College of Teacher Education
