Program Description:

The BS Biology program is structured as a generalized framework of study with the end view of grounding students with the fundamental concepts, principles, and theories of the biological, natural and physical sciences and the conduct of research. this includes the acquisition of appropriate skills, and training in the efficient processing and presentation of information in both written and oral form.

The BS Biology program is structured to meet the needs of professional biologists who can be employed in government/ private institutions and other agencies, can engage in entrepreneurial activities, conduct research in the various areas of biology, undertake post graduate education in Biology and allied fields, and pursue a career in teaching.

Program Outcomes:

  • Develop in-depth understanding of the basic principles governing the science of life.
  • Utilize techniques/procedures relevant to biological research work in laboratory or field settings.
  • Apply basic mathematical and statistical computations and use of appropriate technologies in the analysis of biological data.
  • Extend knowledge and critically assess current views and theories in various areas of the biological sciences.
  • Program Description:

    Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes.  In general, the emphasis is on the individual person and how the person’s mental processes and behavior are affected by internal, relational and social factors. Psychology as a discipline and professional practice contributes to national development through basic and applied research and interventions aimed at solving problems and promoting optimal development and functioning at the individual, family, group, organizations/institutions, community, and national levels. The undergraduate programs in psychology provide initial training for those interested in teaching, research and the practice of psychology. Furthermore, they provide preparation for graduate studies as well as further studies in other profession such as medicine, law, and business management.

    Program Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate the capacity to discuss and analyze the major theories and concepts in psychology (knowledge in psychology).
  • Demonstrate and apply the methods of psychological inquiry in building knowledge on local culture and context (psychological research).
  • Demonstrate and apply psychological theories and methods in personal and professional setting (application of psychology).
  • Demonstrate capability for self-reflection and independent learning in graduate education or in a professional context (independent learning).
  • Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors in research and practice in Psychology (ethics).
  • Demonstrate harmonious interpersonal relationship with colleagues, clients and others (interpersonal skills) in diverse cultural setting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct psychological assessments and evaluation (psychological assessment).
  • Program Description:

    The Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNEd) program prepares teachers who will instruct and manage students with additional needs in inclusive and segregated educational settings. Its graduates will be equipped to teach the basic education curriculum and alternate curricula depending on the needs of the students. Those who will teach in the elementary level will be trained across different subject areas. Those who will teach in the secondary level will provide educational support to students with additional needs in inclusive classrooms or provide educational services to students who may be enrolled in special education centers.

    A graduate of this degree program should be able to teach in regular and special education schools as a teacher provided that he/she passes the Licensure Examination for Teachers in his/her subject area of specialization.

    Program Outcomes:

    The graduates have the ability to demonstrate knowledge, skills and dispositions under the following domains:

  • Basic/Foundation: Provide respectful and meaningful learning experiences and collaborative opportunities for students with additional needs and their families.
  • Learner Development and Individual Learning Differences: Respond effectively to educational needs of students with additional needs.
  • Learning Environments: Create safe, inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments for students with additional needs.
  • Curricular Content Knowledge: Use knowledge of general and specialized curricula to individualize learning for students with additional needs.
  • Instructional Planning and Strategies: Use evidenced-based instructional strategies to maximize learning opportunities for students with additional needs.
  • Assessment: Use multiple methods of assessment and multiple data-sources to make sound educational decisions for students with additional needs.
  • Professional Learning and Practice: Demonstrate reflective thinking and professional self-direction.

  • These program outcomes are aligned with preparation standards for special educators by the Council for Exceptional Children, an international professional organization of educators of students with exceptionalities or additional needs.
