CAS faculty show cutting-edge knowledge at Siliman University

Mr. Ariel Bendo and Mr. Armando Forbes, faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences presented their separate papers at the Horace B. Silliman Lecture series at Silliman University, Dumaguete City last September 27, 2014.

Bendo dealt with “Understanding Human-Technology Relations in Don Ihde’s Phenomenology of Technics”, while Forbes discussed “Kierkegaard’s Mode of Existence: In search of Authentic Self in the Face of Technology”.

The public lecture was attended by the different colleges and universities.  Dr. Paulo Bolaños, Chair of the Philosophy Department of the University of Sto. Tomas served  as the Main Speaker.  His address focused on  “The Normative Claim of Recognition: Between Honneth and Ricouer”. 

The Horace B. Silliman Lecture Series is an annual activity of Silliman University in honor of the late Dr. Horace B. Silliman who initiated the founding of the school in 1899.  Since its inception, Siliman University has evolved into one of the most prestigious Universities in Asia.
