SPU Iloilo Launches SDG Initiatives to Drive Sustainable Development

St. Paul University Iloilo (SPU Iloilo) reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by launching its Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) directions and initiatives on March 27, 2025, as part of its University Week celebration.

University President Sr. Teresita Baricaua, SPC, emphasized the institutionโ€™s responsibility in addressing global challenges such as poverty, hunger, and environmental sustainability.

To ensure the effective implementation of SDG-related programs, an Office for SDGs was established, headed by Prof. Leonard Pineda I who shall serve as its Director.

An SDG Coordinating Committee, composed of representatives from all academic departments, non-teaching staff, students, and alumni, will oversee initiatives in key areas such as curriculum development, campus operations, research, and community engagement.

The integration of these efforts aims to embed sustainability into the universityโ€™s policies, academic programs, and daily operations.

During the launch, faculty, staff, and students pledged their support by signing a Commitment Wall, signifying a collective effort toward integrating sustainability into all aspects of university life.
