SPU Iloilo holds Grand Dental and Legal Mission

St. Paul University Iloilo held a Grand Dental Legal Mission last August 21, 2011 at the University Multi-Purpose Hall for its adopted communities.

Dr. Florence May  Arquillo,  president of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) Iloilo Chapter, with Dr. Joseph Ryan Mabaquiao, Dr. Cecilia Puno, Dr. Paul Sionosa, Dr. Millenn Cambas, and Dr. Chiselle Nathalie Denise Celis , catered the needs of 188 patients mostly came from Cagbang, Oton, the adopted barangay of the SPU Iloilo College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).

“It was the longest dental mission our group has ever conducted.”, says Dr. Arquillo. She and her fellow dentists did not expect the turnout of the event that they had to extend for a little while in the spirit of service. It is their first activity sponsorship at SPU Iloilo.

Simultaneous to the other activity, the legal mission was headed by Atty. Dwight Trasadas. He and his colleagues, Atty. Cesar Buyco and Atty. Samson Averia Jr., made themselves available to counsel citizens in need of advice regarding their various concerns.

“We should learn to reach out, share our time, and resources to the people in need. This will bring true satisfaction in our lives.” says Atty. Trasadas.

This activity was initiated by the Office of the Guidance Services led by Mr. Noel D. Bedia, MSGC. Together with him, the Paulinian Peer Facilitators’ Club and CAS Circle spearheaded the whole day activity.

“It is a super grand activity. This is in line with the advocacy of the school which is social responsibility. We will continue doing this to strengthen the goals of our university.” Mr. Bedia stressed.

The activity was made possible through the efforts of Social Laboratory Extension Program (SLEP), and presence of respective organizations like Paulinian Photographic Society, The Paulinian Publication, and Paulinian Ambassadors of Peace.
