A Presence in the Region: St. Paul University Iloilo at 70

St. Paul University Iloilo celebrates 70 years of leadership in providing quality education in Iloilo and neighboring provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao. Rooted in the Catholic tradition, SPU Ilolilo kicks off its year-long jubilee celebration on February 3, 2016 with a Eucharistic Celebration at Sta. Teresita Church in Iloilo City.

Being part of a larger community, SPU Iloilo also celebrates the National Arts Month as part of its Jubilee celebration. Pauls Exhibit, featuring the works of artists from KanVAS (Kansila Visual Artists Society), formally opens on February 1, 2016 at the lobby of the Marian Theater. The exhibit runs through February 7, 2016.

As supporter of the Arts and Theater and an institution that celebrates and hones the talents of its students, SPU Iloilo also hosted the 2nd Iloilo Theater Festival in cooperation with University of San Agustin Little Theater. SPU Iloilo Troupe de Paul presented two plays, “Benched Love, ” written and directed by Ma. Luisa Alba and written by Bryan Paul Espinosa, and “Kapre nga Dwende, ” written and directed by Bryan Paul Espinosa. These two plays were presented along with the play, “Diin si Ma’am Elisa?” of Teatro Primero of Western Institute of Technology (WIT).

The 70th Jubilee Celebration hosts a number of events that showcase the fine contributions of SPU Iloilo in the fields of education, health and wellness, performing, literary, and visual arts, academic excellence, community service, and other faith-based initiatives.

The Jubilee Week celebration is capped by a Jubilee ball on February 7, 2016 attended by the whole SPU Iloilo community of alumni, students, administrators, faculty, staff, donors, supporters, and friends.

SPU Iloilo at 70 years, the legacy starts anew.
