Last March 21, 2014, all the Paulinians from Common First-Year Program (CFP) gathered at St. Louis Chauvet Multi-purpose Hall for the culminating activity in National Service Training Program (NSTP) with the theme, “Service to mankind is service to God and community.”

NSTP is a civic education and defense preparedness program introduced in tertiary level. Thus, all CFP Paulinians are required to take up NSTP for two semesters. On the first semester, most of the topics are mainly focused on knowledge acquisition such as on first aid, disaster preparedness, and environmental stewardship. On the second semester, the main goal is to have students immersed in numerous areas where they may be able to apply or to share the knowledge they gained from their first semester of taking up NSTP. Immersion activities include conducting catechism at Iloilo Central Elementary School or providing assistance and seminar to numerous marginalized communities within the city. The exposure of the students in NSTP is aimed to helping them become more responsible and more aware of the condition of numerous Filipinos in different sectors. Apart from these exposures, the students have been actively involved in all of the endeavors of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), especially on the river clean-up which was participated by the CFP since the first semester.

The culminating activity of the NSTP Department under the College of Arts and Sciences was made possible by the NSTP Coordinator, Mrs. Merle Ann G. Tajolosa. The culminating activity includes numerous events that introduced the achievements of the CFP Paulinians in their one year training in NSTP. Paulinians performed dance numbers and presented their reflections through poetry, public sharing, and music video.
