Nurses’ Week: Walking The Paths of Olympians

The Paulinians from the College of Nursing are going to make some noise for the next three days—November 13 to 15—as they gather to celebrate Nurses’ Week which is organized by the Paulinian Nursing Students’ Organization (PNSO). The theme: “Olympians 2.0: Molding Paulinian Nurses Amidst the Waves of Challenges” reflects the true nature of this three-day celebration of talents and camaraderie with each team named after Olympian gods of the Greek mythology. The sophomores were the team Apollo, the juniors, Team Artemis, and the seniors, Team Hermes. The main goal of this event is to foster camaraderie among Paulinian Nursing students and to showxase talents in acting, dancing, singing, sports, and more!

On the first day, November 13, a grand debate will take place and a seminar of nurse empowerment with the guest speaker Hon. Leah Paquiz, President of Philippine Nursing Association and a representative of the Ang Nars Partylist.

On the second day, November 14, literary-musical competitions will take place and these include extemporaneous speaking in both English and Filipino, character impersonation, vocal solo pop and duet, and choral performance.

On the third day, November 15, competition on video presentations will take place which include Best Paulinian Nurses’ Hymn Video and a parody of musical videos which they tagged Nurse Tube. Hip-hop and modern dance competitions will also take place on this day. One of the most exciting part of this day is the Search for Paulinian Nurse Model, a modeling competition in search for two official model—a male and a female—who best represent of the College of Nursing in terms of knowledge, skill, and attitude. They will be judged according to talent, grace, charism, and intelligence.

This three-day event will be made possible by all the Nursing students’ participation and cooperation headed by PNSO. Activities like these are part of the holistic development of Paulinians that they may be able to develop and share their God-given talents, improve their social skills, recognize the value of accountability and unity, and appreciate team and individual efforts.

May the love of Christ Impel All Paulinians!
