SPUI Excellent Library Collection: The Road To Quality Education

Last November 25, the University Library conducted its part of the nationwide celebration of National Month of Library by having the National Book Week with the theme: “SPUI Excellent Library Collection: The Road to Quality Education.”

The one-week event opened yesterday with numerous activities. One activity was the puppet show performed by the Paulinians from the College of Teacher Education. The spectacle was enjoyed by the Paulinian pupils from Holy Guardian Angel Laboratory School–which includes kindergarteners and Grades 1 to 2 pupils. Apart from this, the University was graced by the presence of Dr. Marilou P. Tadlip, a retired Director of Libraries of the University of San Carlos, Cebu City and a consultant of Benchmark8. She gave an inspirational and informational speech in relation to the theme of nationwide library month celebration: “Librarians: Preservers and Promoters of Culture and Arts.” Apart from these, the University Library awarded the top librarian users among the faculty and students. Ms. Ronela Jundos, faculty of the Social Sciences Department was honored as the top library user among the faculty. Meanwhile, a senior student from the Bachelor of Science in Biology, Ms. Krystle Quirao won the top library user award among the students.

After the opening ceremony, everyone proceeded to the BOOK FAIR, participated by 8 publishing companies. The fair, which is stationed at the Our Lady of Grace Building, opens opportunities for the Paulinians to suggest books for the University Library to purchase. Apart from the current and great library collection, the recommendation of both faculty and students will all the more enrich the present collection. The book fair will last till November 29 and everyone is encouraged to participate and interact. Moreover, free massage is being offered!

The event started off successfully and this is all because of the dedicated librarians our university has. KUDOS to Prof. Josephine T. Fernandez, Chief Librarian, and to all those who made this event truly successful.

May the love of Christ continue to impel all Paulinians!
