St. Paul University Iloilo Hosts National Museum’s Travelling Exhibition Showcasing Western Visayas Heritage

The Office for Sustainable Development Goals (OSDG) of St. Paul University Iloilo proudly hosted the Travelling Exhibition by the National Museum of the Philippines – Iloilo on October 15, 2025, at the Finance Lobby.

The exhibit brought together students, faculty, and staff to celebrate and appreciate the vibrant history and culture of Western Visayas. It featured artworks and artifacts that highlighted the region’s rich identity and its ongoing commitment to cultural preservation.

“The exhibition serves as a reminder of our shared heritage and the importance of safeguarding it for future generations,” said Director for SDGs Leonard Pineda I, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) Iloilo.

The Travelling Exhibition is part of NMP Iloilo’s Pambansang Museum sa Barangay/Paaralan project, which aims to raise public awareness and foster appreciation of Filipino heritage. Through this initiative, mobile museum boxes are brought to barangays, schools, and universities, allowing communities easier access to the country’s national collections.

Each of the mobile boxes contains replicas and educational materials representing different themes—from the biodiversity conservation of West Visayan fauna to significant cultural and archaeological treasures.

Among the featured exhibits are the Oton Gold Death Mask, The Gentle Giants of Panay (elephant and stegodon fossils), and Haból Panay (the woven artistry of Western Visayas).

Launched in 2022, the Travelling Exhibition has since expanded its reach across Western Visayas, visiting state universities, private schools, and local barangays.

Its stop at St. Paul University Iloilo underscores the institution’s commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly those promoting education, culture, and heritage conservation.
