St. Paul University Iloilo, through its Office for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), conducted a faculty training program titled “Paulinian Educators as Catalysts for Sustainable Development: Faculty Training on Incorporating SDGs into the Curriculum.”
The two-day event was held on June 18, 2025, for tertiary level faculty members and on June 19 for basic education and senior high school teachers.
Sr. Teresita C. Baricaua, SPC, University President, emphasized the significance of the training in preparing educators to respond to the growing call for integrating sustainability into higher education.
She underscored that equipping teachers with the capacity to embed SDG concepts into their courses is a crucial step in shaping learners who are socially responsible and globally engaged.



Serving as the resource speaker was Ms. Ira G. Pahila, Senior Economic Development Specialist and SDG Focal Person of the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development, Regional Office VI.
Ms. Pahila shared insights on contextualizing the SDGs within the Philippine educational setting and practical approaches to embedding them across disciplines.
The training is part of SPU Iloilo’s ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable development in alignment with the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
