More than 600 DepEd teachers from Region VI undertake their Mass Training at St. Paul U (SPUI) for Araling Panlipunanfrom May11 to 16, 2015 and Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao on May 18 to 23, 2015. This undertaking is a partnership between SPUI and the DepEd to train teachers to deliver quality instruction in Grade 10 this coming academic year 2015-2016. This is the second year that DepEd partnered with St. Paul University Iloilo to prepare Basic Education teachers to handle the challenges of the implementation of K to 12 in the Philippines.
The Vice President for Academic Affairs of St. Paul U, Dr. Flor Agnes Sy said that the University looks at this training as its chance to support the government initiative at the much needed education reforms in the country. She added, “It is also an opportunity for the University to open its doors and resources to the teaching community of Panay and Guimaras so that the latter can have a deeper appreciation of their roles as educators and formators of the youth and get a better view of SPUI’s capability to offer its brand of quality Catholic education.”
This training program is implemented through the collaborative efforts of the DepEd Central, Regional and Division Offices, Teacher Education Council (TEC), Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE), Instructional Materials Council Secretariat (IMCS), National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) and St. Paul University Iloilo, referred to as the Teacher Education Institute.
