From February 17 to 21, St. Paul University Research Center conducts research week 2014 with the theme: “Situating Research in the New Era of Education.” The five-day event is comprised of numerous research presentations from different colleges.
The numerous activities provide ways for students and faculty to raise their level of awareness about research opportunities and present their own research findings but situate research in the context of the K+12, a new era of education. For departments, colleges, and programs, this is a venue to showcase Paulinian achievements. Events range from symposium, undergraduate and graduate poster presentations to guest speakers. Specifically, this five-day event is aimed at raising awareness on the importance of research in the academe, giving support to initiatives of research through consultation, and showcasing and disseminating research finding for translation to improvement through oral and poster presentation.
On the first day, the Education Supervisor of the Planning and Research Division of the Department of Education Region VI, Mr. Toribio Berano was the guest speaker whose talk centered on the theme by giving emphasis on the role of research with the introduction of the K to 12 curriculum.
On the second day, the entire day was filled with numerous oral presentation of research paper. Six members of the Paulinian community composed of alumni, students, and faculty presented their papers. Associate Dean of the College of Nursing, Marilyn Junsay, R.N., M.A.N. presented “Quality of Fairness of Performance Rating Scale (PRS) and the Evaluative Process in Assessing Clinical Performance of BSN IV Students.” Ronela Jundos, M.Ed. presented “Nagpana Aeta in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo: Culture, Issues, and Challenges.” Dean of the College of Physical Therapy, Juan Miguel Murillo, P.T.R.P., M.D. presented “Practices of PPS Preventive Pediatrician Health Care Guideline of 2010 on Dental Care and Visits.” Violie Cabundocan, R.N. presented “Effect of Visayan Folk of Music to the Behavioral State of Roomed-in Neonates.” University psychometrician, Maureen Bereber presented “Effects of Egg Albumin to the Aggressive Behavior of Male White Mice.” Mary Chris Panes presented “Pasta with and without Chicken Bones (Gallus gallus domesticus): How Feasible?”

On the third day, numerous scientific posters made by the students were exhibited at the Marian Lobby with the University President, Sr. Carolina Agravante, SPC cutting the ribbon. The remaining fourth and fifth days are for research consultation for students who have difficulty in theses writing and preparation.
This entire event is made possible through the joined effort of the research department with Mr. Imelda Olaguer as the Research Department Director and the Over-all Chair of the Research Week 2014, Mr. Ariel Bendo.
