St. Paul University Iloilo celebrated its annual Marian Youth Camp with the theme “Pasidungog Para Kay Maria” last December 8, 2011 simultaneously throughout the University to integrate the significance of Mary’s “Yes” to God’s mission for her.
The one-day event started with registration and a celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the University Multi-Purpose Hall. It was followed by a living rosary procession which traversed from the school’s gate down along General Luna Street, and took a turn at the CAP Auditorium back while praying and meditation on the mysteries of the Holy Rosary.
The tableau competition commenced with presentations from the various colleges as everyone gathered to have the Agape lunch immediately after the contest that seemed like a fiesta with the gymnasium filled of assorted dishes for everyone to partake.
The seniors and faculty members moved to the Marian Hall for a simultaneous talk about the Fiat of Mary while the rest of the students stayed at the gym. The contestants for the poster making proceeded to the mezzanine canteen to work on their masterpieces.
For the final contest of the day, the Chorale competition participants showed their talents in singing Marian songs and especially the main piece entitled “Awitan Si Maria”. Immediately after the contest, a solemn Taize prayer followed which was accompanied by candles, prayer songs, and reflections.
As the contest winners were about to be announced, the students were asked in the Back Garden to witness the lighting of the University Christmas Tree to close the grace-filled activity.
