Paulinian Community Celebrates the First Sunday of Advent with Candle Lighting and Blessing

Advent, (from Latin adventus, which means “coming”), is a beautiful season of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Today, Paulinians gathered for the blessing of the advent wreath and lighting of the first candle to signify the First Sunday of Advent. The first candle represents Hope before the birth of Jesus. This reminds us to keep awake and be ready.

Sr. Teresita Baricaua, SPC, the university President, lighted the first candle and Rev. Father Rafael Delloma, AM, blessed the advent wreath. Dr. Ariel Sudario and students led the advent luturgy held at the lobby of the St. Paul Building.
