The College of Teacher Education (CTE) senior and junior students hold a Field study exposure at the University’s sister school, St. Paul School (SPS)in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo last July 27, 2012.
This was made through a Memorandum of Agreement signed on July 11, 2012 by St Paul University Iloilo president, Sr. Carolina S. Agravante, SPC and Sr. Esperanza Rodriguez, SPC directress/principal of St. Paul School Barotac Viejo to legitimize the conduct of Field study activities including student teaching exposure of CTE students between the two institutions.
The group, composed of 16 students was accompanied by their Field study supervisor and dean of college, Dr. Sunny G. Gabinete. Observation of classes was done from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. among the classes from Grades 3-6 in the subject areas of Filipino, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Science and Computer Education.
Sr. Esperanza Rodriguez, the school director/principal was so glad that the College of Teacher Education of SPUI was able to conduct the activity to strengthen collaboration and to improve the academic and professional competence of her faculty members. “ We need a summarized observation of the Field Study students among our faculty member so that we can also improve our teachers academic preparations”, Sr. Rodriguez informed Dr. Gabinete.
The Field Study exposure is composed of six (6), one-unit course in the department which requires pre-service teachers to undertake observation of classes in six facets of learning.
This regular activity is done every last Friday of the month in SPS Barotac Nuevo, while it is conducted once a week in the nearby elementary schools in the university.
